Ursula Marie Piercy
Age 96, of Vandalia, passed away Friday, December 27, 2019, at Danbury Senior Living in Huber Heights, Ohio. Ursula was born April 12, 1923 in Jena, Germany to the late Rudolph Frederik & Marie Ida (Eisler) Goerbert. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Col. James E. Piercy, who passed away on October 8, 2019; two sisters, Marion Hasler & Ruth Young; and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Piercy.
Ursula is survived by three sons, James Piercy, Richard Piercy & his wife, Karen and Jeffrey Piercy & his wife Kathleen; three grandchildren, Stefan, Jillian (Ben) & Isaac (Cindy); and by six great grandchildren, Olivia, Allison, Mason, Andrew, Evan & Jack.
Ursula served in the U. S. Army Nursing Corps during WW II and earned the rank of 1st Lt. She was a registered nurse, enjoyed swimming and was an avid reader.
The family will be receiving friends from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Funeral services will follow at 5:00 p.m.
Ursula and her husband James will both be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
