Valentine Horvath

HORVATH, Valentine S. Val , age 89, formerly of Vandalia, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at the Bellbrook Rehab & Healthcare Center after a short illness. He was born March 3, 1918 in Dayton, OH, son of the late Stephan & Mary H. (Hegyi) Horvath. Val was a retired employee of General Motors with over 35 years of service, was a US Navy Veteran of WW II and was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Vandalia. Preceded in death by his wife, Alberta in 2005, Val is survived by 2 daughters, Kathryn Kathy & husband, Larry Kowal of North Augusta, SC and Joanne Joni & husband, Robert Jacobs of Butler Twp.; 5 grandchildren, Jeff & wife, Milissa Jacobs, Michael & wife, Gina Jacobs, Bob & wife, Anne Jacobs, Steve Jacobs and Kristin & husband, Corey Huss; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and special friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, May 21, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 401 E. National Rd., Vandalia with Fr. Francis Keferl officiating. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia on Sunday afternoon from 2-5 pm. If so desired, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society in Vals memory. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff of Bellbrook Rehab & Healthcare Center and to Dr. Deepak Sarwal for their kind and compassionate care of Val during his illness.
