Arthur Vernon (Vern) Allen, passed away at Hospice of Dayton on February 13, 2007 after a long illness, he was 65. His father Arthur William Allen precedes him in death. His wife of 30 years Sylvia Wilmoth-Allen and his Mother Ava Cox Allen of Robertsville, OH survives him in death. Vern leaves behind three children and five grandchildren. His daughter Carla Allen-Brady and husband Michael Brady of Perryopolis, PA and their two children Lauren and Sean. Daughter Teresa Rutt and husband Marvin Rutt of Ludlow Falls, OH and their three children Lee, Christopher and Caleb. Son Quinn Matthews and partner Charles Allio of Oakwood, OH. His dogs Ziggy and Zoe were his best little comfort companions over the last few years and they too are feeling the loss of their buddy. Three brothers survive Vern in death. His two brothers Jack Allen and Don Allen of Portland, OR and his brother Randy Ellis of Tipp City. His beloved Aunt and Uncle, Mary and James Cox of Dublin, VA also survive him. Vern and Sylvia were the owners of Big Muffler Shops in Dayton, Ohio for over 30 years. He was a long time resident of Tipp City, Ohio and took pride in the community he called home for so many years. He was a member of the Tipp City Eagles Lodge and AM-Vets. He was always willing to help any organization that asked for help such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters and at one time was a supporter of the Tippecanoe Band Boosters. Vern was also a proud member of the Masonic Lodge Solar 730 and he was a member Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 17 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Interment to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Hospice of Dayton in Arthur (Vern) Allens name.
