TOLLE, Verner P., age 89 of Vandalia, passed away Friday, December 5, 2008 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born April 28, 1919 in Dayton, son of the late Verner A. & Ann E. (Graham) Tolle. Vern graduated from the old Steele High School in Dayton, Oh. He was a tool and die designer and for the last 25 years of his career was self-employed doing business as Buckeye Design based in Vandalia, OH. He was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Vandalia and was a veteran of WWII and received the Purple Heart for wounds received during his combat action in the South Pacific theater. Preceded in death by 3 brothers, Hueston, Corwin & Richard Tolle and 1 sister, Christine Miller, Vern is survived by his wife, Martha J. Tolle; 3 sons, Don & wife, Ann Tolle of Cincinnati, Tom & wife, Mindy Tolle of St. Simons Island, GA, and Larry Tolle of Centerville; grandchildren, Amy, Ryan, Alex, Austin, and Ashley; 1 sister, Dolores Bierlein of Beavercreek and a host of other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, December 13 at St. Christopher Catholic Church, Vandalia with Fr. Francis Keferl officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia on Friday evening from 5:30 " 8:00 pm. If so desired, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton or the Alzheimers Association in Verns memory.
