Vernon Owen

OWEN, Vernon E. age 79 of Vandalia, passed away Tuesday September 11, 2007 at his residence following an illness. He was born March 12, 1928 in Dayton, son of the late Albert & Ruby (Hageman) Owen. Vernon was a 1946 graduate of Northridge High School, a U.S. Navy Veteran and a retired employee of Delco Products. He was a member of Vandalia Masonic Lodge# 742 F&AM, the Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, and the Antioch Shrine. He was preceded in death by one brother Wesley Owen and one sister Vi Nardini. Vernon is survived by his wife of 56 years Maureene (Nardini) Owen; 3 daughters Cynthia Owen of Union, Linda Owen and Karen Owen both of Vandalia; one son David & wife Pamela Owen of Vandalia; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; one brother David & wife Gay Owen of Lima; one brother-in-law Dick Nardini of Vandalia and numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday September 13 at 10:00am at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr Vandalia. Burial will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening (TODAY) from 6 to 8pm. If so desired, contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association in Vernons memory.
