Veronia Z. Gilliland

GILLILAND, Veronia Zell, age 88 of Vandalia, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at the Crossroads Rehabilitation Center after her lengthy battle with Alzheimers. She was born July 15, 1924 in Pulaski Co., KY, daughter of the late Ballard & Lilly (Capps) Pennington. Veronia was a longtime member of the Vandalia Baptist Temple, a 50 year member of the OES Vandalia & Englewood Chapters, and a retired employee of General Motors. Preceded in death by her husband, John, Veronia is survived by her daughter, Gelene Cope & husband, Richard of FL; 3 grandchildren, Richard Cope II, Julee Cope & Matthew Cope; 6 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. There will be an Eastern Star service at 10:45 am, with the funeral service to begin at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 17, at the Vandalia Baptist Temple, 724 Helke Rd., with Rev. Rick Washburn officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation. The family requests no flowers, but asks that donations be made to the Alzheimers Association, Miami Valley Chapter, 3797 Summit Glen Dr., G100, Dayton, OH 45449 or the Ohio Masonic Home 2655 W.
