STUPP, Viola M. (nee Brown),
age 95 of Centerville and formerly of Vandalia passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Hospice of Dayton after a short illness. Viola was born March 19, 1921 and was a 1939 Graduate of Trotwood Madison High School. Viola worked directly for the plant manager of Frigidaire Plant #3 during WW II. She was active as a girl scout leader. Viola was certified through the Library of Congress to transcribe school texts into braille and used this skill as part of the group, “The Delightful Helpers”. She was a longtime member of the Dayton Women’s Club and the Vandalia United Methodist Church. She greatly enjoyed music, playing bridge and Wii bowling with her friends at Bethany Village.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bernard C. Stupp of 58 years; her parents, Martha (nee Stuckhardt) and William Brown; 6 brothers, Lawrence, Wilbur, Donald, Ralph, William, and Robert and one sister, Miriam (Hart). Violet is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Stupp) and George Long and Nancy (Stupp) and Arthur Hattan; grandchildren, Meredith (Long) and John Florkey and Ashley (Long) and Gordy Haggard; great-grandchildren, Ella, Mia and Max Florkey and Declan and Gavin Haggard; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am – 12:00 noon on Monday, March 13 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Private interment will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice in Viola’s memory.
