Virginia "Ginny" Bolte

November 28, 1923 — April 19, 2016

Bolte, Virginia K. “ Ginny ”, age 92, of Vandalia, passed away on April 19, 2016 surrounded by family. She most recently lived at Chesterwood Village in West Chester, Ohio. Ginny was born November 28, 1923 in Columbus, Ohio to George and Frances Koch. She was married to her husband Bob for 61 years. Together they shared a lifelong devotion to their children and grandchildren. Bob preceded her in death in 2012. Ginny is survived by her loving children Bob (Aida), Mary Ann (Terry) Toon, Tom (Helen), Phil, Peggy (Jim) Shirk, and Matthew; 6 Grandchildren Alan Bolte and Laura Bolte, Sarah (Alex) Moore, Michael Shirk, Ryan Shirk and Alex Shirk; 1 Great Grandchild, Ewan Moore. Also survived by many special nieces and nephews who referred to her as “St Ginny”.

Ginny graduated in 1941 from St. Mary’s High School, German Village, Columbus Ohio. She served in the US Navy during WWII as a Telegrapher 1st Class. When the war was over Ginny attended The Ohio State University, setting the course for her children to attend and graduate from OSU as well. Ginny’s biggest devotion was to her family and her faith. Her commitment to her children and grandchildren always came first. She was a wonderful role model as a spouse, parent and friend. Ginny was a strong advocate in the Stillwater Parent group, achieving a better quality of life for her son Matt and many others. She worked tirelessly in the development of design of the current Stillwater Health Center. Besides dark chocolate, she most enjoyed family gatherings, being with friends, gardening, playing Scrabble & Bridge, traveling to the sea, particularly to Puerto Rico to see Bob and Aida. She also loved her grand dogs and was an avid OSU fan.

The family will receive friends Saturday April 23th, 2016 from 9:30-11 at St. Christopher Church, 401 E. National Road, and Vandalia. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM. Memorial donations may be made to Stillwater Center (Friends & Family Group) 8100 North Main Street Dayton OH 45415. Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
