Virginia "Jenny" Lakes

LAKES, Virginia D., Jenny age 71 of Butler Twp., passed away peacefully June 23, 2009 at her residence. She was born March 2, 1938 in Clarkrange, TN, daughter of the late Denton & Bessie (Paris) Little. Jenny spent over 50 years serving in music ministry as an organist, soloist and childrens choir director. She spent 10 years serving the Meadowdale Baptist Church, 7 years with the Fairview Baptist Church and 23 years serving the North Dayton Baptist Church and was currently a member of First Baptist Church, Vandalia. Jenny is survived by her husband of 53 years, Dorsey; 4 daughters, Nina & husband, Dennis Humphries of Wilmington, Lisa & husband, Larry Hammons, Renee & husband, Kent Summers and Rhonda & husband, Denny Faulkner, all of Butler Twp.; 8 grandchildren, DJ, Jared, Elizabeth, Grant, Jill, Jake, Sammy & Amy; 2 brothers; 1 sister, and numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, June 26 at First Baptist Church, 140 Elva Ct., Vandalia with Pastor Dennis Humphries officiating. Burial to follow at Polk Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5-8 pm at First Baptist Church. If so desired, contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, in Jennys memory. Arrangements by Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
