Walter Charles Groh, Sr. Age 74, of Laura, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Brookdale of Englewood. Walter was born August 25, 1940 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Lester & Irene (Cook) Groh. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Ann Groh. Walter loved fishing, he was an excellent carpenter and he was the proud owner of Groh General Contractors for 32 years serving the Englewood/Clayton areas. He is survived by his wife of the past 54 years, Frances E. (Cauley) Groh; their children, Elaine Frances Chinn (Doc), Walter Charles Groh, Jr. (Donna) & Charles Scott Groh (Melissa); eight grandchildren, Brett, Scott & Brooke Chinn, Blake, Kyle & Jacob Groh, Erin Groh-Giesler & Morgan Groh; two great grandchildren, Owen Burtis-Chinn & Brock Chinn; brother, Howard S. Groh; and by his extended family & many good friends. The family will be receiving friends from 4 - 7 p.m., Wednesday (4/8) at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday (4/9) at the funeral home with Rev. Kerry Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens in Brookville. If friends desire, contributions may be made in memory of Walter to The Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420.
