Wayne Monroe

December 19, 1938 — February 16, 2009

MONROE, Pastor C. Wayne, age 70 of Dayton, OH passed away Monday, February 16, 2009. Wayne was a deeply loved and cherished husband, Dad, brother, Pappaw and friend to many. He was a giving man who never met a stranger & loved the Lord with all his heart. He was born December 19, 1938 in Hollywood, CA, graduated from Wichita Falls Texas High School, and Midwestern University and attended Marshall University. Wayne had served in Louisville, KY at Shiveley Heights Baptist Church, at Sevier Heights Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN and for the past 21 years has served as Associate Pastor at the First Baptist Church, Vandalia. He was the leader of the Classics Senior Adult Group. Wayne was preceded in death by a son, Michael Monroe and his mother, Ruth Chadwick. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Pauline Morgan Monroe; sons, Kevin Monroe & fianc, Suzanne Davis of Nashville, TN and Scott & wife, Jenny Monroe of Clayton, OH; daughter-in-law, Penny Monroe of Versailles, KY; 6 grandchildren who called him Pappaw, Rachel, Nicholas, Neil, Matthew, Morgan & Michael; his 3 brothers, 3 sisters, numerous other brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and step-father, Ronnie Chadwick of Davidson, OK and his special friends, too numerous to mention. We will all miss his love of life and his ability to make us laugh. We love you and will miss you. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church, 140 Elva Ct., Vandalia on Thursday evening from 4-8 pm and again on Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Funeral service will be conducted Friday, February 20 at 11:00 am, at First Baptist Church with Pastor David Starry officiating. Interment to follow at Polk Grove Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Lois Henson, Dr. Greg Gordon and the nurses from Hospice for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either of the ministries closest to Brother Waynes heart, The Classics or the Continuing the Vision Fund , both through First Baptist Church, Vandalia.
