Wilbert G. Harper

HARPER, Wilbert G., age 92 of Vandalia, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Stonespring of Vandalia. He was born August 28, 1923 in Somerset, KY and was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. Wilbert retired from General Motors and was an active and devoted member of the North Dayton Baptist Church for 53 years. Preceded in death by his brother, Gilbert, he is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty (Alexander) Harper of Vandalia, son, Gary Harper (Debbie) of Vandalia, daughter, Karen Cupp (Jim) of Arcanum; brother, Keith Harper of Knoxville, TN; sister, Shirley Anderson of Somerset, KY; 5 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and good friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 2 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Pastor Jim Williford officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 pm until time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the North Dayton Baptist Church, 515 Lillian Ave., Dayton, OH 45404 in Wilbert’s memory.
