William P. "Bill" Gustin Jr.

William P. “Bill” Gustin, Jr. of Lake Wales, Florida passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 at Lake Wales Medical Center. He was born April 10, 1928 in Norwood, Ohio to the late William P. and Ruby M. (Johnson) Gustin. He has been a resident of the area for 1 ½ years coming from Englewood, Ohio. Bill was an employee of the Dayton Post office, where he worked for 44 years, retiring as Quality Control Manager in 1988. He was a former member of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Vandalia, Ohio. In his younger married life, he enjoyed being a Boy Scout Council Leader, was a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus at St. Peter Catholic Church in Huber Heights and loved traveling with his family in the U.S. and abroad. After retirement, he served as Director of the Dayton Postal Workers Credit Union for some years. He lived in Englewood, Ohio from 1988 until 2010 when he moved to Florida. He enjoyed traveling, doing genealogical research, going to family reunions, and especially being a member of the Men of St. Joseph group at St. Chris. He was a Veteran of the United States Marines serving in World War II. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Rita Kramer and a grandson, Blake Daniel. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Sandra Frazier; children Paula Benson (Bernie), Mary Schommer, Angela Bryant, Tom Gustin (Joyce), Bob Gustin (Reeve), Kendra Herrick (Brad), and Kathy Hildebrand (Joe); 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister Leah Merfert and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Christopher Catholic Church at 435 E. National Road Vandalia, Ohio 45377 or charity of your choice. Visitation will be held 9:00-10:00 am Saturday, August 5, 2017 at St. Christopher Catholic Church with Mass following at 10:00 am with Rev. Fr. John Tonkin officiating. Interment will be held at Arlington Cemetery in Brookville, Ohio. Local arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
