William A. Heizer
Age 86, of Vandalia, passed away Monday, September 3, 2018, at his home with his family by his side. Bill was born June 12, 1932 in Frenchburg, Kentucky to the late David Nelson & Bessie Ethel (Campbell) Heizer.
Bill was proud to have served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He went on to work at General Motors – Delco Moraine for 34 ½ years, retiring in 1994. He and his wife were square dancers for 21 years with Circle 8 of Vandalia. He was also a member of the Mystic Masonic Lodge # 405 F & AM and the Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of the past 63 years, Mary E. (Avery) Heizer; two daughters, Cathy Jane Lutz (Larry) and Brenda Jean Rice; six grandchildren, Larry Allen, David, Jason (Heather), Bronda (Charlie), Nicki & Timothy (Shelby); nine great grandchildren, Christopher, Makyla, Gage, Korbin, Hunner, Tobias, Paisley, Joclynn, Anastasia & one more due in two months; three siblings, Kenneth Heizer (Lou), Geneva Powers & Betty Osborn, and one of his favorite nieces Gloria Williams; and by his extended family & many good friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday (9/8) at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Pastor Larry Lutz will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery in Vandalia. The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that contributions be made in memory of Bill to either the Alzheimer’s Association or The Hospice of Dayton.
