William R. Humphreys

HUMPHREYS, William R. age 85 of Dayton, passed away Thursday January 17, 2013 at Emeritus at Fox Run following an illness. He was born February 15, 1927 in Jackson, OH son of the late Joseph & Lena Humphreys. William was a retired employee of Dayton Tire with 33 years of service where he was a URW organizer and Past President of Local #178. He was a member of the Missionary Church of God and attended Northridge Freewill Baptist Church. He was a member of Riverview Lodge #717 F&AM and Sievers Lodge #491 F&AM, York Rite Chapter 25 Council 68 Commandry 31 of Somerset, KY, Oleika Temple Shrine of Lexington, KY. William was preceded in death by his wife Georgia; one son Darrell; 3 sisters Beulah, Imogene and Catherine; 2 brothers Joseph and Ronnie. Mr. Humphreys is survived by one daughter Donna & husband Ralph Newman of Dayton; 2 sons Gary Humphreys of Somerset, KY and Farrell & wife Renda Humphreys of Dayton; special daughter-in-law Bonnie Hambleton of TX; one brother Delano & wife Carol Humphreys of TN; one sister Linda Wright of Dayton; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces nephews other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 22 at 1:00pm at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia with Rev. Dennis Humphreys and Rev. Tim Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton or to the charity of your choice. The family would like to encourage everyone to take a moment to go visit someone in a nursing home to brighten their day.
