William "Bill" Kochan

KOCHAN, William Bill , age 90, of Vandalia, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 25, 2010 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born August 4, 1920 in New York City, NY, son of the late Gregory H. & Mary Kochan. Bill was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of WWII, serving tours in Hawaii, Korea, and over a year in Japan. He spent his post-military career maintaining aircraft and supervising flight lines at WPAFB for 31 years and was a charter member of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Vandalia. Preceded in death by his brother, Michael and sister, Estelle, Bill is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Dolores Dee (Stanwick); 1 daughter, Debi & husband, George Moore of MI; 1 son, Mark & wife, Cindy Kochan of TX; 5 grandchildren, Heather Moon & husband, Jamie Burge; Ryan & wife, Kara Moore, D.d. Moore, Christina & Angela Kochan; 6 great-grandchildren, Jenya, Ezra, Levi, David, Evangeline, & Selah, and a host of other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, October 28, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, Vandalia with Fr. Francis Keferl officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 10:00 am until time of service. Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
