William L. "Bill" McCormick

McCORMICK, William L., Bill age 77, of Vandalia, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Grandview Hospital. He was born September 23, 1935 in Dayton, OH, son of the late Joseph & Mae (Hiney) McCormick. Bill was a retired employee of the Carpenters Local #104, a U.S. Navy Veteran, a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church and the American Legion Post #668. Preceded in death by 2 children, Robert McCormick & Rhonda Elliott and 11 siblings, Bill is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jeanette of Vandalia; daughter, Cheryl McCleane (Dennis) of Lebanon; son, William McCormick (Angie) of Vandalia; 1 sister, Dorothy Redmon; 7 grandchildren, Jason Elliott (Sasha), Shawn McCormick (Sheena), Ashley Corwin (Dave), Dustin & Emily Sargent and Stacy & Tacie McCormick; 4 great-grandchildren, Makayla, Daniel, Lane & Sophie, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, December 31, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, Vandalia with Fr. Francis Keferl officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia on Sunday evening from 6-8 pm. If so desired, contributions may be made to the Vandalia-Butler Food Pantry in Bills memory.
