MOORE, William J. Bill Sr., age 90 of Vandalia, passed away Wednesday November 25, 2009 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born February 28, 1919 in Dayton, son of the late Marion & Rata (Paine) Moore. Bill was a member of St Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church, was a life member of the Vandalia Lions Club and was a Lions International Melvin Johns Fellow. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, and a member of the Ohio Air National Guard. He was a life member of Sabec Memorial VFW Post #9582, and was a member of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 162. Bill retired from Rieck Mechanical Services and also worked 15 years at North Dixie Ace Hardware. He was preceded in death by one son Gary; sisters Eloise Smith, Aletha Hummell, Madge Howar, Harriet Booher, Jean Loomis, and twin sister Fran Ferree. Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years Ruth Stallman Moore; one son William J. (Vicki) Moore of Vandalia; 3 daughters Linda (Gary) Pearson of Miamisburg, Connie (Andrew) Davidson of Tipp City, Patricia (Dean) Peters of Vandalia; 9 grandchildren Michael (Jeannie) Moore, Robert (Sheila) Pearson, Charles (Kelly) Pearson, Denise Moore, Cora and Lee Davidson, Lauren, Nicholas and William Peters; 7 great-grandchildren Sydney, Sierra and Talon Pearson, Lilly and Audrey Pearson, Elise and Elijah Moore and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services for family and friends will be held Sunday November 29 at 4:00pm at St Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church 122 W. National Rd. Vandalia with Pastor Gil Santiago officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4pm at the church. Following the services the family will be having a reception in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or to the Vandalia Lions Club in Bills memory.
