William L. Ramby

RAMBY, William L., age 93 of Dayton, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Stonespring of Vandalia. He was born March 1, 1922 in Dayton, OH, son of the late John & Anna (Skeleton) Ramby. William was retired from Peerless Transportation and proudly served in WWII as a member of the U.S. Army. William enjoyed the opportunity to take the Honor Flight in the fall of 2014. Preceded in death by his wife, Rita Mae in 2002, he is survived by 1 son, Tim Ramby (Pam) of NC; 4 daughters, Cindy Groves (Richard) of Wapakoneta, Nancy Holland (Mitchell) of Butler Twp., Kathy Reckner (Mike) of Butler Twp., & Jodi Draper (Vince) of IN; 1 sister, Susie Smith of Northridge; 11 grandchildren, Bradley, Shawn & Timmy Ramby, Jason, Craig & Chris Howerton, Ryan & Brittany Holland, Michael Reckner, Sarah (Reckner) Suiter & Karissa Draper; 11 great-grandchildren,Nathan, Kaylyn, Tanner, Declan, Coby, Brady, Haley, Mason, Madison, Lucas, & Dylan, along with a host of other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, March 23 at St. Christopher Catholic Church, Vandalia with Fr. Francis Keferl officiating. Interment will follow at Willowview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia on Sunday (3/22) from 2-4 pm.
