William L. Roth
Age 74, of Vandalia, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017, at his home. Bill was born August 6, 1942 in Dayton to the late Donald E. & Irene (Lawrence) Roth.
He retired in 1994 from the Inland Division of GM with 33 years of service and was a member of U.A.W. Local 87. For many years he coached youth baseball, T-ball & football in Vandalia and he was an avid bicycler having rode the G.O.B.A. (Great Ohio Bike Adventure) for 10 years.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of the past 47 years, Bette J. (Elleman) Roth; two children, Dawn Roth-Smith (Craig Smith) and Joseph D. Roth (Lyn); four siblings, Sue Mazzone (John), Jane Moyer (John), Mike Roth (Joyce) & Steve Roth (Lynne); seven grandchildren, Tym, Leah (Andrew), Jackson, William, Chase, Gage & Garrett; one great grandchild, Templeton; sister-in-law, Helen Lane (Doyle); brother-in-law, Eddie Elleman (Lori); numerous cousins, other relatives and friends, and by his devoted companion, his dog, Maggie.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, April 15, at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Rev. Tim Laskowski will officiate. The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
