William D. “Bill” Wade

Age 81, of Huber Heights, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018, at The Hospice of Dayton. Bill was born April 6, 1937 in West Carrollton, Ohio to the late Fred E. & Edna Mae (Snell) Wade. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three siblings, Robert Lee Wade, Dorothy Jean Allen & Doris Fecke.

Bill retired from the Dayton Police Department with 30 years of service in 1989. Prior to that he served a term in the U. S. Army, followed by a term in the U. S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the American Legion, the NRA and FOP # 44.

Bill is survived by his loving wife for the past 56 years, Eileen V. (Swiger) Wade; sister, Nancy Sue Bailey; and by his extended family and many good friends, including his wonderful neighbors who have been so helpful to he and Eileen.

The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 21, at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. A service of remembrance and military honors will follow at 2:00.

In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Bill to either The Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420 or to the Dayton Police History Foundation, Inc., P. O. Box 293157, Dayton, OH 45429.

Following the funeral service all family & friends are invited to gather at the F. O. P. Lodge, 4275 Powell Road, Huber Heights, for a time of food & fellowship. The gathering will be in the back room of the lodge.
